The article discusses in a contrastive perspective Slovak and Bulgarian dialect lexical material, making use of a new approach, that of „confrontate structures“. As a result of this the compared lexical units, referred to as confrontates in the study, receive a more complex and detailed treatment and new information about various aspects of the Slovak-Bulgarian language contacts is arrived at.
