Keeping in consideration traditional word-formation classifications and having analysed some monolingual studies on the subject, the authors came to the conclusion that the drive towards language economy is far more pronounced in German than in Bulgarian and is manifested in the former by varying means of expression. The paper further specifies the correlation among the various groups of compounds, used as headlines across the two languages. %B Съпоставително езикознание / Сопоставительное языкознание / Contrastive linguistics %V 9 %P 29–34 %G eng
